Australia Day on Buderim 2012 Program
Australia Day Celebrations

Australia Day is a great event, when the Buderim Aussie Spirit really shines!
Much of the activity centres around the main thoroughfares of Buderim, with the Lions’ Bush Breakfast at the Middies Complex shops starting off the day at 7am.
Burnett Street from the Tavern to the Lindsay Road roundabout and on to Main Street to the Lindsay Road intersection will close from 8am until 10:30am for entertainment and the Parade. Rotary will be providing a sausage sizzle at the Buderim War Memorial Hall after the parade, The Palmwoods/Buderim Train Association will be selling icecreams at the Hall and the Guides will have drinks for sale. Entertainment will continue at the Hall – more details closer to the day!
Some of the Buderim Living Legends will participate in the parade and there will be special features unveiled for the B150 year.
The theme of the 2012 (150th year of white settlement on Buderim) will be “Looking Forward; Looking Back”. Whether you are part of the floats or one of the hundreds of people lining the main road, you must participate so:
- · come dressed as a pioneer;
- · predict how we will dress in years to come; or
- · just be yourself.
People travel from near and far to join in the Australia Day celebrations on Buderim and it is easy to see why. Buderim has a unique community spirit which is the envy of every other town in our great nation. If you want to put a finger on our community spirit, you must point to our unique Buderim War Memorial Community Association (BWMCA) . This group of volunteers is a living memorial to Australian Service men and women and keeps the traditional values of community alive and well!
Start the day early with a traditional Bush Breakfast set to the music of an Aussie Bush Band.
The Grand Australia Day Parade is one activity everybody gets into!
Whether you are part of the floats or one of the hundreds of people lining the main road from Lions Park to the Memorial Hall, you must participate.
It’s the Australian thing to do!
The BWMCA gratefully acknowledge the generosity and support of our sponsors
