Major Community Events

Within the BWMCA a number of sub committees are charged with responsibility of organising and conducting significant community events in Buderim.  These committees are comprised entirely of volunteers, drawn from the local community. The quality and reputation of these events show the vast talent and calibre of the people in our community willing to give of their time and effort for the greater good.

The Buderim Community Events are being compiled into the new online calendar on our site, click the tab above marked calendar to view.

Anzac Day

Anzac DayEach year this day of commemoration and remembrance is held to honour all Australians who have served and paid the supreme sacrifice in the service of their country.

The day begins with the very moving Dawn Service at the Memorial Hall and numbers increase every year.

The BWMCA also coordinate the main parade through Burnett Street to the Buderim Mountain School oval. The parade includes military participants, both active and retired as well as their younger representatives, community and service organisations, local schools and marching bands.

The main service and wreath laying ceremony is held under the hoop pine grove in the school grounds.  Attendance has steadily increased in recent years and is open to all members of the public who wish to participate in this special day.

Anzac GatesAfter the service attendees are invited to morning tea in the school covered area by the BWMCA Friends of Buderim Sub committee, and the wreaths are placed at the Memorial Gates near the edge of the school oval.

While the reviewing officer and guest speakers vary from year to year, the order of events remain the same:

5.00am Dawn Service – on the western side of Buderim Memorial Hall

8.15am Parade Assembly – at Woolworths carpark

8.30am Parade – down Burnett Street to Buderim Mtn State School

9.00am Main Service – in the Pine Forest at BuderimMtn State School

Australia Day Celebrations

Australia Day on BuderimThe Australia Day celebrations in Buderim have been a major and increasingly popular event organised by a sub-committee of the association for over 25 years. The famous Buderim Australia Day celebrations supported by the Sunshine Coast Council, put a strong emphasis on activities for the whole family.

Australia Day on BuderimAll in all, an action packed fun day for all the family in Buderim – we look forward to seeing you there!

The tradition is to attend the Bush Breakfast, watch the Float Parade as it moves along the main street, view the judging of the parade floats, then enjoy all the fun and activities of the day on the school oval.

Remembrance Day

remembrance day footeAt 11am on 11 November, along with other Australian communities, the BWMCA hold a ceremony to commemorate the sacrifice of all those who have fought and died for Australia in all wars and conflicts. The gathering is held in the Foote Memorial Sanctuary on the eastern end of the Buderim Mountain plateau. Visit the website, Click here!
The commemoration is open to all members of the public who wish to pay their respect and to remember the supreme price paid on their behalf.

Welcome to Buderim

Although not on so grand a scale as Anzac Day and Australia Day, there is another more frequently held and more intimate gathering.  If you are a new resident of Buderim our Welcome to Buderim committee would like to meet you and introduce you to other newcomers to our great town.

Every six weeks a free Welcome to Buderim Afternoon Tea is held for new residents to get together, make new friends and learn what facilities and organisations are available to you to ease your way into your new town.  Whatever your age and interest you will find something within our 74 Affiliated groups to suit your needs (check out our Affiliates page).

Our local Councillors and State Member are usually in attendance to answer any questions that you may have, and BWMCA committee members will be there to advise you of the work that this great organisation does for the community.

So please, come along and join the hundreds of others who have previously attended one of these free events and see how the BWMCA can help you settle into your new lifestyle.

Future Dates are:  April 21, June 2, July 14, August 25, October 6, November 17
