The Buderim Garden Club is a very active group with around 200 members who attend monthly meetings with interesting Speakers, and also hear chats about plants and gardening in general .
There’s a Library of general Gardening books and magazines, a Seed Bank, general plants for sale, jams and chutneys for sale, a Cut Flower competition – which has become an “Enter and Show” event. The Photographic competition is gaining in popularity, and there is always a shared afternoon tea to round off a very pleasant afternoon.
Meetings are held in the Buderim War Memorial Hall, cnr of Main and Church Sts., Buderim, at 2pm on the 2nd Friday of each month (excluding December and January).
Volunteers enjoy monthly working bees at the Edna Walling gardens, and another group (the “Garden Shedders”) work at the gardens adjacent to the Buderim Memorial Hall, involving the maintenance of the front flower beds and replanting with decorative, perennial plants.
Bus trips and festive lunches are high on the Agenda, and a Buderim Garden Book is being compiled with stories of gardening “on Buderim”.
The Buderim Garden Festival is held each year in October at the Buderim War Memorial Hall. This involves the Spring Flower Show, Six Open Gardens and a quality Plant Market.
The BGC website www.buderimgardenclub.com has details and photos of the many events.
It’s worth a look.
